  • Code is your friend - You have extensive scripting experience. You have built code that interacts with APIs. You have the ability to read and understand code in many languages.
  • Broad Sysadmin Experience - You have extensive sysadmin experience with many systems. You can read the manual or dig into the code to bring yourself up to speed in areas where you have less experience. You can speak at length knowledgeably about all of the following general areas of expertise: networking, storage, distributed systems, security, source control, continuous integration and delivery, infrastructure automation, orchestration, containers, cloud platforms, UNIX.
  • Specific Sysadmin Experience You should have years of experience with:
    • Ticketing systems
    • Configuration management systems
    • Handling Backups
    • MySQL
    • Shell/Bash
    • One or more scripting languages: Python (preferred), Perl (preferred), Ruby
    • Systems for logging and log aggregation
    • DNS
    • SMTP
    • Load Balancing
    • Monitoring / Alerting
    • VPNs
    • HTTP and related technologies: HTTPS, SSL/TLS certificates, Apache and/or NGINX
    • Version Control
    • Storage platforms: local file systems, NFS, etc.

Additional Skills

Experience with the following are desirable but not required.

  • AWS
  • Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo)
  • Ansible
  • Docker
  • Terraform
  • Rundeck
  • Graphite
  • ElasticSearch
  • Prometheus

Job Details

  • Work with business analysts and developers to design the infrastructure to support new systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Maintain, improve, and upgrade infrastructure.
  • Aid in the investigation of site and infrastructure issues.
  • Design and run site deployments.
